CSS list-style-type Property

To specify the type of marker used in a list

Definition and Notes.

1. The CSS list-style-type property is used to set the type of bullet for a list - round, square, disc etc.

2.You can even turn an unordered(bulleted) list to an ordered(numbered) list by changing the list-style-type property. Use the none option to completely remove bullets or numbers from the list.

Note- The sizes of disc, circle and square bullets vary slightly is sizes and shape from browser to browser

Property Values

Value Description
none No marker is used.
circle To use circle as a marker .
disc To use disc as a marker .
square To use square as a marker
armenian To use armenian symbols as a marker .
decimal To use decimal number as a marker .
decimal-leading-zero To use decimal-number-leading to zero as a marker .
georgian To use georgian symbols as a marker .
lower-alpha To use lower-alpha (a, b, c, d) as a marker .
lower-greek To use lower-greek(alpha, beta, gamma, etc) as a marker .
lower-latin To use lower-latin(a, b, c, d etc) as a marker
lower-roman To use lower-roman(i, ii, iii, iv etc) as a marker
upper-alpha To use upper-alpha(A, B,C ,D etc) as a marker .
upper-latin To use upper-latin(A, B, C, D etc) as a marker
upper-roman To use upper-roman(I, II, III etc) as a marker .
inherit list-style-type property are inherit from the parent element.
